How to care for cozy fleece
Since we all like to layer up with fleece during the colder months, we jumped at the opportunity to share a care guide with UNIQLO (and you!).
♻️ About recycled polyester fleece
UNIQLO's fleece is made from 100% recycled polyester yarn, with the zippers and small parts made from 98% recycled materials.
The process begins with used plastic products that are carefully sorted with the help of AI and high definition cameras. The sorted batch is rid of impurities and crushed into plastic flakes. Then it's made into a durable and dyeable fiber.
Master craftspeople brush the recycled fabric with fine needles to create fluffiness and warmth. An anti-pilling process is used to prevent breakage and loss of fluff.
You can watch the entire process here!
🫧 How we care for fleece in an eco-friendly way
1) Turn the garment inside out and check the care label for any special instructions.
2) Use a mild biodegradable detergent. Do not use an excessive amount, which could leave residue and affect the fabric.
3) Do not use fabric softener or chlorine bleach.
4) Select cold water and a gentle cycle. On your washing machine this might be the Delicate, Hand Wash or Wool cycle.
5) Gentle cycles will reduce shedding, but it's best to wash with like colors just in case.
6) Make sure the other items in the load do not have features that can damage fleece in the wash, like velcro.
7) Air dry the garment by laying it flat to dry or hang drying.
