  • 1. Inspect items coming out of storage

Check your sweatshirts, sweaters, outerwear and accessories for pilling, fraying, holes and loose buttons.

  • 2. Freshen up your cool weather favorites

Use a garment brush, de-pilling stone or fabric shaver to clean up the surface of your clothes.

  • 3. Mend items to keep them in the rotation

Don't give up on items that need a little TLC. Sew buttons back on, reweave wool snags and do some light mending. More here.

  • 4. Messy eater? Try these solutions.

Red wine, salad dressing, gravies and other "uh-ohs" can be lifted from clothes with an oxygen brightener (not for wool or silk).
